The Oneida-Madison-Herkimer Counties School Boards Institute presented its 2024 Student Achievement Awards and Distinguished Service Awards to students and school officials. One of the major themes of the awards is recognizing students who have overcome obstacles. New York State School Boards Association Area 5 Director William Miller of West Winfield and Member Relations Manager Patrick Longo spoke about that during the event. The Student Achievement Awards were presented this year to: Steven Cioch, Central Valley Central School District; Emily Hartman, Mount Markham Central School District; Shianne Austin, of Remsen Central School District; Cody Coon, of Waterville Central School District; Memphis Ferguson, of Whitesboro Central School District; Travis Leone, of Whitesboro Central School District; Jaden Roback, of New York Mills Union Free School District; Derrick Furness, of Morrisville-Eaton Central School District; Evan Lewthwaite, of Rome City School District; Sarah Moyer, of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District; Connor Schoener, of the New York State School for the Deaf/Unadilla Valley Central School District.
