Home Shoppe Honored For Local Commitment

Waterville First presented a Commitment to Waterville award last week to a longtime business in the community.

The Home Shoppe, run by Bob and Joanna Treen, received the award at a reception hosted by WF.

WF President Brian Bogan and Board member Patty Louise presented the award.

In 1983 Bob and Joanne Treen opened a business on Commercial Drive, New Hartford that specialized in living area improvements for personal and commercial customers.

Bob focused on flooring needs and Joanne handled windows.

Four years in, they were told Commercial Drive was going to be rebuilt into four lanes.

The entrance to their store for the next two years would be a quarter of a mile away.

That, they said, was not acceptable.

So they began looking for a new space.

They found it in their hometown, Waterville.
