St. Mary’s Church in North Brookfield left the site the building has stood since the 1880s and began a slow and tense journey to her new home up the hill on the Barnes property. Building owner Megan Barnes hired Payne’s Cranes to figure out how to move the 80 ton building from its spot, down the driveway, onto the North Brookfield Little League field (rounding first, second and third like a champ) and through a swamp last week, all while navigating mud, gravity and a truck part that broke on the first attempt. Once at its new location, the building will serve as a chapel for weddings at Barnes’ Barn.
