Ivy Cameron, a fourth grade student at Memorial Park School, receives a Life Saving certificate from Waterville Fire Department member Joe Jurczak during an assembly at the school Friday. Ivy and her dog Spike were sleeping at her aunt and uncle’s house in Oriskany Falls March 14 when the dog woke her up. She said she learned what to do during Fire Safety days at MPS, which were organized by Jurczak’s son, Matt, who passed away last month. Students and staff also donated money to help the family recover.
