Events Set To Help Clean Up, Climate

Some upcoming community events will suggest ways to make the Earth a nicer place to be.


*The second annual Green Up Waterville is Sunday, April 24, starting at 9 a.m. The event has been renamed in honor of the late Pat Mangan, who had a passion for keeping the sidewalks of Waterville litter free.


Go to Waterville Village Hall to get bags, gloves and an assigned route for cleanup.


*The Clinton/Kirkland Climate Smart Task Force, the Village of Clinton, and the Town of Kirkland announce the launch of the Clinton/Kirkland Clean Energy Campaign.


The campaign is aimed at encouraging residents to conduct free energy audits of their homes and consider installing air-source or geothermal heat pumps in place of oil, propane, or natural gas furnaces. Modern heat pumps provide both heating and cooling more efficiently than fossil-fuel based furnaces and dramatically reduce carbon emissions.
