Dump Day Called A Success For RS

The first-time Dump Day for the Village of Richfield Springs was called a success.


DPW Superintendent Joe Coan thanked the volunteers and said the Village took in over 13 tons of household items, one ton of E-waste and 120 gallons of used motor oil.


Coan gave the report at the Village of Richfield Springs Village Board’s May meeting.


A second Dump Day for 2026 will be scheduled for the end of September. The General Fund bills of $40,287, Water Fund bills of $2,852 and Sewer Fund bills of $11,026 were paid.


A fund transfer of up to $2,500 was approved.


Board members created a position of Clerk of the Court based on Civil Service.


Board members agreed to have the Village Attorney review water and sewer overcharges of $1,102 for a decision on forgiveness.


Board members had two executive sessions during the two-hour meeting.


After the second one they voted to set a probation period of 52 weeks for all village employees.


At the April meeting Coan presented three proposals for leasing a new tractor.


The Board approved the one of $64,693 from Sun First.


Board members approved having Randall Implements fix the third gear on the big Tractor at a cost between $15,000 and $18,000.


A contract for Flow Meter Installation was awarded to Wm J. Keller & Sons Construction.


Resident Barb Crandall was thanked for a donation of 14 trees to the Village.
