On-site dental services will be offered to all students at Waterville Central School District beginning next week.
WCS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring told the WCS Board of Education last week that the service will be available to all students regardless of ability to pay. Mosaic Health will accept dental insurance from those who have it but will provide services to all. “No child will be turned away,’’ Spring said.
Mosaic will begin services at Memorial Park School and then move their setup to the Junior-Senior High. Services will include screenings and exams, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, oral health education and referrals if needed.
Parents will receive information this week about enrolling their students.
Also during the 90-minute meeting, Board members heard an update on the District’s technology from Michael Shue, who has handled WCS’s tech needs for almost 12 years. Shue is an employee of Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES and also works in the New Hartford school district.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grades use Chromebooks from ones on the cart, while all seventh through twelfth grade students are provided their own Chromebook. All laptops used in the District are replaced every five years.
Shue talked about recent projects, including ClassLink and MasterLibrary. Both streamline services online.
