Community Market Place Coming To Leonardsville

This Saturday kicks off a monthly event through August to bring people to Leonardsville to shop and enjoy time together.

The Unadilla Forks Baptist Church, which uses the former Leonardsville school, has added to its community outreach with a Market Place that will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month starting this week.

Victoria Gifford is coordinating the event, which will also run June 17, July 15 and Aug. 19. She said it will be a combination of a craft fair, farmers market and animal swap, plus a place to grab a bite to eat.

This week’s Market Place, which is outside, will include two food trucks and about 50 vendors. While the first one has yet to happen, Gifford said enthusiasm already has her planning to expand the event next year to start in May and end in October.

A Facebook page called Leonardsville Marketplace will provide updates.

In July the Market Place will combine with a revival weekend the church has planned that includes music and games for kids. Gifford said this event is another way to help the community find ways to get food, especially without a local grocery store.
