Columbia Thanks Retiring Officials

The Columbia Town board met last month.


Supervisor Nathan Seamon called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.


Councilmember Ed Reed gave the invocation prayer.


The minutes of the November board meeting were reviewed and approved.


The Supervisor’s monthly financial report and the Town Clerk’s were reviewed and accepted. A check in the amount of $147 was given to the Supervisor.


Highway Superintendent Mark Buddle reported the DEC inspected the fuel tanks.


The Town is waiting for delivery of the 2025 Western Star.


The truck hydraulics might be ready by February.


The Highway Department has been busy clearing the roads.


The Petrie Brown building uses one-third of the fuel it did before insulation and siding was added.


Buddle said 4,000 feet of culvert have been installed over the previous three years.


He and Board members discussed emissions standards for the future.


Town Clerk Eric Gloo reported the Town Zoning Law was scanned and is on the Town website.


The remaining Town laws will be scanned and put on the Town website.


Planning Board Chairperson Ron Bayzon reported the Planning Board has a busy month ahead.


Planning Board Secretary Deborah Kidder reported that Sandra Dievendorf will become a permanent Planning Board member in January.


The new Planning Board member, who will be an alternate member, and a new chairperson will be chosen.


Tax Collector Mary Doremus reported that tax bills will be mailed near the end of December, and discussed the tax collection process.


She will be available at the Town Office the following dates in January for those wanting to pay their taxes in person: Saturdays, Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31: 8:30 to 11 a.m. and Thursday, Jan. 29: 5 to 8 p.m.


Town Justice/Court Clerk Gene Doremus is taking the Bench Certification Course in the Albany Justice Building.


Bayzon reported that when discussing changing fees, the Town laws need to be checked, ...
