Columbia Makes Appointments For 2026

The Columbia Town Board met Jan. 15 for their monthly meeting and 2026 reorganizational meeting.
The West Winfield Star was designated the official Town Newspaper and NBT the official Town Bank.
Town Board meetings will remain the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
Lisa Valentine was appointed deputy Town Clerk, Chad Leach deputy Highway Superintendent.
Ray Donley re-appointed Codes Officer.
Christopher Bray was appointed Town Attorney.
Highway Superintendent Justin Davis said road salt is difficult to find this winter.
He suggested holding off on selling the 2018 Western Star plow truck and selling the 2009 International plow truck instead.
The Planning Board was to hear a presentation on a proposed cell tower site on Jordanville Road.
Town Tax Collector Mary Doremus said as of the meeting 166 parcels have paid property tax bills for a total of $161,026.
The Town will be looking for a Court Clerk to work with Town Justice Gene Doremus.
The position of Tax Collector was abolished, and the duties merged with those of the Town Clerk.
The Board next meets at the Town Hall Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
