CNY BMX Park Starts 27th Year

The Bridgewater CNY BMX track rolls out this month for its 27th season of pedaling, jumps and fun.
Erika Carrier, manager of the track behind the Bridgewater Town Hall, said the action begins next week with two Open Houses for anyone age 4 on up to get their initial practices, or to try it for the first time.
The Open Houses are Monday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 29, both from 6 to 8 p.m.
During the season Mondays at that time are for practices, while racing is Wednesday evenings.
“BMX is a friendly sport that while competitive against those at your age and level,’’ Carrier said, “is friendly and welcomes anyone on the course.’’
During the winter Carrier ran a class indoors in Leonardsville for ages up to 5 years old.
Twenty-seven kids participated, learning balance and how to steer.
Carrier’s son, now 11, started BMX at 18 months old. “We say no one sits on the bench,’’ she said. “You show up, you ride.’’
This year the track will have a Beginners League level from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for ages 4 and up for those who know how to ride a bike.
