A study will be conducted to look at options for a new firehouse for the Clinton Fire Department.
The Clinton Village Board approved the study, which will cost $35,0000, to consider moving the Department’s headquarters off Park Row.
Clinton Mayor Elizabeth Tantillo told the trustees at last week’s meeting that the feasibility study will look at costs and locations.
The current firehouse, she said, is over 100 years old, no longer conforms to requirements and is not in an ideal place along West Park Row.
One of the considerations, Tantillo said, will also be to look at where members of the department live in relation to a firehouse.
Only three of the department’s members live in the village, with the rest outside of it.
The Fire Department owns the firehouse on Park Row and Station 2 on Franklin Avenue.
Tantillo sent the study information to Hamilton College and the Town of Kirkland.
Tantillo said Hamilton College will pay one-third, or $11,670 of the study.
The Town is considering the study.
The study will begin this month.
During discussion on reports, board members commented on only three speeding tickets given out by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department for August.
The Village pays the Department for extra coverage, started in January as a way to address complaints of speeding in the village.
