By Carl Wheat and Jeff Barrett, 2021 Christmas Basket Program
The West Winfield Rotary Club wishes to thank the people of this great community for their extraordinary support for the 2021 Community Christmas Basket Program.
Fifteen teams braved the Winter weather Dec. 18 to deliver Christmas to 60 families in our community. Leaving from the Federated Church in West Winfield they traveled across our community bringing food gift cards and presents as they have done for many years.
Teams of two loaded up and headed off, making a brighter Christmas for those less fortunate. The spirit of Christmas was truly shown through the generosity of our community.
That spirit has brightened the holiday season for many of our friends and neighbors in need. We would like to express our appreciation to the following organizations, clubs, and community members whose generous acts and donations made this year’s program possible.
Thank you to:
*Heather Lewis-Hoover, Grace Watkins, Linda Rogers, Gail Royce and Eileen Ucekay members of the Planning Committee;
*The people from the congregations of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, the Federated Church, the Bridgewater Congregational Church, the United Methodist Church of Leonardsville, and the Community Baptist Church of Millers Mills who participated in the “Gift Tag Trees” program. Countless hours were spent in preparing the numerous tags for the trees, buying, packaging, and preparing the gifts for delivery by members of each of the congregations.
*The Mount Markham Optimist Club, other community members and West Winfield Rotarians for delivering the baskets and packages;
*Our local Boy Scouts and their leadership team who assist with the coordination of efforts at the Federated Church on the day of delivery. You show how easily a job is completed when teamwork and organization is put into play;
*New York Central Mutual Insurance…
