Changes Mark Start Of School Year At RSCSD

At their re-organizational meeting for 2026-27 the Richfield Springs Board of Education swore in a new superintendent and Board member.


Dr. Jessica Poyer was formally recognized as the District’s new superintendent. Larry Bohling began his term as a board member and Brad Smith was sworn in for another term.


Nancy Duevel was elected Board President. Smith was elected Vice President with a 3- 2 vote. In favor were Duevel, Smith and Michelle Zuba.


Voting for Rebecca Marzeski were Marzeski and Bohling. Sherry Farrington was appointed District Clerk.


Oct. 7 was set as the date for celebration of new staff and staff granted tenure.


Community member Doree Baker asked what is the validity for those community members that came to school for the Budget Vote?


It was explained by the Board of Education that the School District that you reside in, you are able to vote.


The Board of Education will look into this further with the Board of Elections in Otsego and Herkimer counties. Board members approved combining sports again with the Owen D. Young District.


Boys and girls modified and varsity wrestling will combine with Mount Markham.


Emily Diotte was hired as an Elementary teacher and Kathryn Prade as the Library Media Specialist.


Krista Martin and Regina Paul were hired as Special Education teachers. Victoria Marro was hired as a biology teacher.


Cassandra Nipe and Jesse Richard were hired as long-term substitute teachers in Junior-Senior High Science and Math, respectively.


Coaching appointments were made: Jacob Mayton, boys jv basketball; Matthew Tobin, boys varsity basketball, Brendon Harris, girls jv basketball; JT Hoose, boys varsity track and field; Brian Stever, varsity softball; Krista Martin, varsity softball; Brian Stever, boys varsity soccer, Melinsa Tyler, modified boys soccer, Courtney Vickerson, ...
