When Jackie Walters saw the advertisement for a part-time executive director for the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, she thought it would fit in with her experience and family lifestyle.
In summer 2014 she, husband Doug and children Madeline and Oliver moved to Clinton, seeking more emphasis on family time together. They came from New Jersey, where Doug commuted 90 minutes each way into New York City for work.
Clinton looked appealing as both sets of their parents lived in the area. With Maddie in sixth grade, Ollie in fourth and Doug needing 11 minutes to get to work by the next year, Jackie sought a way to get more involved in the community. She first joined the Clinton PTA, serving as co-president.
When the ad came up, Jackie applied. In New Jersey, she had worked for the Westfield Chamber of Commerce.
