Ceremony Will Honor Victims

The annual Edward Porter Felt Flight 93 Remembrance Ceremony will take place at the Clinton Central School Foundation Memorial Brick Garden Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m.

The Garden is named in honor of CCS graduate Felt, who died as a passenger aboard United 93 in 2001.

He and others tried to stop the terrorist attack on their plane, which crashed in Pennsylvania.

The Garden pays tribute to Felt and others aboard the plane that morning.

During the tribute, the names of those killed in attacks that day will be read out loud by members of the Oneida County DAR group.

The Brick Garden Dedication Ceremony will follow.

All are welcome to attend.

The Clinton Fire Department will lead the Sept. 11 ceremony.

The Department is also sponsoring a chicken barbecue Sunday, Sept. 21 to help firefighters going through treatment for major illnesses.

The event that begins at noon until gone is at Clinton Firehouse No. 1 on Park Row.

Customers can drive or walk up for their dinners.

Proceeds will benefit Believe 271, a local organization helping firefighters in Oneida and Herkimer counties.

Believe 271 was started to help firefighter Brian McQueen, who had to travel to New York City for treatment.

Money was raised to help with incidental costs. Instead of using the money, McQueen founded Believe 271 to help others in treatment.

He remains president of the Board of Directors.
