Brookfield, WCS Girls Soccer Will Combine

Brookfield girls who play varsity soccer will do so this Fall as part of the Waterville team.

Brookfield Board of Education members voted last week to combine their girls varsity soccer team with Waterville this year due to low numbers.

In the past few years the Beavers varsity team has had just 11, and at times fewer, girls who played.

At their June meeting the Board decided to provide transportation for students to get to Waterville for games and practices.

Brookfield has enough players to have a varsity boys team and modified boys and girls teams this year.

The meeting was also the re-organizational meeting to start the 2026-27 school year.

Valerie Nolan was re-elected president and Cory Grey re- elected vice president.

Business Manager Tiffany Lopesz said as of that day, 81 percent of the 2025-26 budget had been spent.

While still waiting on invoices to pay, Lopesz said BCS will close out last year within its budgeted amount.

Brookfield used $374,822 in federal grants towards salaries last year.

Interim Superintendent Ron Wheelock congratulated the 10 Class of 2026 graduates.

Wheelock, who came to BCS in the Fall, will finish his appointment at the end of the month.
