Brookfield Juggles New Truck Purchases

The Brookfield Town Board will look into restricted parking on Fairgrounds Road near the Madison County Fairgrounds.

Board members at their meeting last week discussed some ideas and how best the restrictions would work.

During events at the Fairgrounds road access is reduced when people park along the shoulders.

The Planning Board reported it approved three subdivisions. Town Clerk Sherry Perretta said she had a busy August with issuing 18 dog licenses and five building permits among other duties.

She said Oct. 1 is the last day to apply for a doe permit.

Town Supervisor Loren Corbin said the town received a petition signed by all residents of Mill Hill Road.

The petition requests that the speed limit drop from 55 mph to 25 mph.

Board members approved the study.

Corbin said the Hamilton Library would like to set up a Little Free Library.

Hamilton used to have one across from the Town Hall but after it was damaged by a plow it was removed a year or so ago.

Corbin said he will ask the library to wait until Spring to set up the library at a location to be decided.

Brookfield has been talking with members of Hamilton’s Partnership for Community Development.

PDC would help the town with growth if the Town chooses, but the process is quite involved, Corbin said.

He said PDC seems to want to help the town and understands residents do not support large wind and solar development.

A public hearing over the summer was attended by about 40 people who shared their ideas for the town.
