Brookfield Board of Education Will Start New Superintendent Search

Next month the Brookfield Board of Education will start the process to find a new superintendent to lead the district.


Board members at last week’s virtual meeting approved having Dr. Patricia Kilburn, superintendent of Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, lead the search for someone to take over when BCS Superintendent Jim Plows retires. Plows, who took over after being the District’s Business Manager for many years, is also a Brookfield graduate.


Board members will work with Kilburn to establish requirements and experience preferred for the next superintendent. They will also set a timetable for accepting applications, doing initial interviews and meeting finalists.


Her first meeting with the Board will be Feb. 2.


In his report Plows said the District is dealing with a significant staffing shortage that is creating challenges in continuing to do in-person education. Last Thursday and Friday students in grades seventh through twelfth went virtual, which allowed some of their teachers to help in the elementary grades….
