Bridgewater Focuses On Codes Violations
Much of the one-hour meeting of the Bridgewater Town Board focused on work to get codes violations addressed in the town.
Zoning/Codes Enforcement Officer Pat Baron said Town law prohibits a single-wide trailer being put on a spot where a fire more than a year ago contained a single-wide trailer.
Baron said the site can only contain a double-wide trailer.
The law states that a vacant property can have a single-wide replaced if done within a year or if the spot is occupied.
Neither applies here. Cleanup has begun on Shaul Road for a residence damaged by fire.
Baron said the owner plans to have it finished in October.
Town Supervisor Dale DeKing told of a violation on Cemetery Road by someone in a white pickup truck towing a white camper.
The truck owner dumped the camper’s tank on the road near the cemetery, she said.
DeKing asked Baron to continue taking pictures of a property on Donley Road that has codes violations.
The other matter discussed at length at last week’s meeting concerned electrical repairs made to a site at the BMX track.
The electrical damage came during the Bridgewater Fire Department’s tractor pull event there.
Bridgewater Fire Chief Bill DeKing said when the pole was installed in the mid-1990s it wasn’t done correctly.
DeKing and Board members said it likely was put in through the volunteer work that set up the bike track.
DeKing said the fire department originally owned the property before the BMX organization took ownership.
Cedar Lake Electric did the work this time at a cost of $6,278.
The fire department paid the bill, but DeKing asked if the town could help with it.
Town Attorney Matt Fanelli said that should be fine, but asked the Board to wait to decide until October so he can verify it is allowed.
Town Clerk Rose Wheeldon said her office has been busy.
She said six families in town have not renewed their dog licenses, saying that is far lower than in the past.
Dale DeKing said the Town’s Dog Officer can issue appearance tickets to see if the residents still have their dogs. ...
