In 2020 the Village of West Winfield researched NYSERDA’s Community Solar program and selected the PowerMarket company as its sole supplier.
The program guaranteed each participating household up to a 10% reduction their electric cost each month.
The program has worked well for the participants since then.
NYSERDA recently reopened the Community Solar program. The Village of West Winfield again sponsored the program for Village residents.
PowerMarket continues to be our sole supplier, and it is only through PowerMarket that the Village of West Winfield receives NYSERDA credit, as well as grant supported funding.
By participating in programs sponsored by NYSERDA the Village of West Winfield has received thousands of dollars which have been used to reduce energy costs.
These cost reductions have a direct, positive affect on your taxes.
The Village continues to work with NYSERDA to develop more local renewable energy projects.
It has come to the attention of the West Winfield Village Board that another group is soliciting Village residents to enter into a services contract with another solar company.
In order for any business to solicit within the Village, that business must apply for and be granted a permit to engage in that activity.
Part of the permit process is for the Village Board to investigate any business that desires to solicit business from Village residents, whether it be solar or otherwise, and to make sure that the business is legitimate and will not take advantage of Village residents.
If any Village resident is contacted by a person or company that asks to engage in any kind of business arrangement, ask that person or business representative to show you a copy of their Village permit to engage in solicitation within the Village.
If they cannot provide you with a permit, please report this activity to a member of the Village Board, so as proper steps can be taken to make sure that no one is engaging in soliciting business with a Village resident without a permit to do so.
The Village Board takes seriously the well-being of its residents. We will take proactive measures to insure that no Village resident is taken advantage of by any business purporting to have the authority to do business in the Village when in fact it does not.
