The Herkimer County Office for the Aging recently had a ceremony to honor the county’s 2021 Senior Citizens of the Year. One of the three chosen was Doug Capraro of West Winfield. Capraro is a volunteer with the RSVP program through Catholic Charities with almost 4,400 hours driven over 135,000 miles. The program helps elderly residents who do not drive get to appointments and other places. A U.S. Army veteran, Capraro is a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Joanne, have three children and six grandchildren.
