Allen, Carroll Lead Mt. Markham Class of 2024

Victor Zampetti, High School Principal, has announced for 2024 that Mount Markham Central School has two Valedictorians: Owen J. Allen and Nathaniel Carroll.


Allen, the son of Cindy and Mark Pawlowski and Jeffrey and Cheryl Allen of West Winfield, will attend SUNY Plattsburgh for Environmental Science.


Allen will graduate with 35 college credits having taken College Chemistry, College Pre-Calculus, College Sociology, College Psychology, College CPR/First Aid, College Macroeconomics and College American Government

through Herkimer College’s College Now program.


His rigorous course load included A.P. English Language and Composition, A.P. English Literature and Composition, A.P. Calculus AB and A.P. Biology.


Allen has a long list of awards and activities in and out of school.


He has been a member of National Honor Society since his sophomore year and NHS secretary in his junior year.


He was Class President in his sophomore year, vice president in his junior and senior years, a member of Mount Markham Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Independent 4-H all four years.


He was President of FFA his junior and senior years, Vice President his sophomore year and Treasurer his freshman year, a member of the Science Club, Envirothon, and College For Every Student (CFES) since his sophomore year, a Peer Leader in Sources of Strength in his freshman, sophomore and junior years.


Allen received the Top Student Award in his freshman year, 2nd Top Student in his sophomore year and the Above 90 Average Academic Award all four years of high school.


He received academic awards such as Outstanding Student in: Earth Science, Global I Honors, English 9 Honors, Geometry, Agriculture-Leadership, Health, Spanish III, Physical Education, Chemistry, American History and Environmental Science.He also received academic awards such as the FFA Empire Degree, FFA ...
