A Lot Cooking At KAC

In its 67th year, the Kirkland Art Center continues to find ways to provide community support of the arts.

At the KAC’s annual meeting, KAC Board of Directors President Ernest Williams said in the 2025-26 year, the Clinton facility had hosted 10 art exhibits, 18 musical events and five theatre nights.

In addition, the KAC put on its annual 5K run, two lectures, dozens of classes and worked with four artists in residency.

The KAC received $1.93 million of the Clinton- Kirkland Downtown Revitalization Initiative award.

Williams said construction starts in Spring 2027 on the expansion and improvements.

These include the addition of a community teaching kitchen that can also be used as a commercial kitchen.

All studio rooms in the barn will be renovated.

New stairs and the addition of an elevator will increase the accessibility, as will the new redesign of the main building’s gallery floor and the barn under the plans done by Chang O’Brien Architects.

The entire facility will become more energy efficient. Williams said this is the third generational change in the KAC’s history.

The last one came in 1991.
