The members of the Sangerfield Cemetery Association Bob Holic, president; Stuart Lyman, vice president; Brian Mason Hughes and Eloise Hughes-Earley, secretary, put in long hours restoring the antique fence that lines the cemetery. The fence, which dates back to 1863, was painted black over numerous days. Morgan’s Hardware supplied the paint at cost to preserve it for years. The cemetery connection for the Mason-Hughes family runs four generations. Eloise’s grandmother, Eloise Mason, allowed her sheep to roam the cemetery to keep the grass trimmed. The work done by the volunteers saved about $23,000 in getting the fence done.
