Before Waterville Central School’s food giveaway began last week, the line of cars stretched to Madison Street.
In one of the signs showing how life has changed for people under the coronavirus pandemic, people lined up for hours to receive the free food given away through the district’s Brothertown Connected Schools program. As a member of the Connected Community Schools, Waterville received about 16,000 pounds of food from Rome Alliance for Education and Safe Schools Mohawk Valley.
In a few hours 450 families had received the food pack, which included milk, soups, vegetables, meat and fruits.
To help homeowners in Clinton, the Village of Clinton extended the time to pay this quarter’s utility bill to the end of May.

But Johnny’s China Cafe in Waterville closed after being unable to get food from their suppliers in New York City. Alteri’s Restaurant in Clinton closed until further notice after doing takeouts for three weeks.
