Brookfield Swamps Lakers, Finish Regular Season 20-0

For the first time in school history, the Brookfield girls basketball team played a school from the Class B enrollment.

After the way the Beavers dominated Cazenovia in a 63-34 win last week, it’s unlikely other Class B schools will rush to put Brookfield on their schedule.

Brookfield led the whole game and did it against a team with 13 wins, had lost its five games by no more than 18 points and centered its offense around a 6-foot-3 senior who, word around the Brookfield gym was, had turned down a scholarship offer from Syracuse University to suit up next year for the Division 1 Harvard Crimson.

Jaelyn was the main, but not the only, reason Cazenovia’s Lindsey Lawson, an all-state player in both basketball and volleyball, was held to just 11 points in the game when she’s been averaging 23 ppg. She was her team’s high scorer.

Seniors Madilyne Kupris, 18 points, and Marissa Kupris, 12 points, kept the Lakers off balance…
