The Clinton senior on the Warriors boys hockey team took the puck from a long pass from Killian Kulpa near the Clinton net and skated hard towards the New Hartford goal. His speed put him almost alone near the Spartan’s goal, giving him a good view to blast the puck in with 4:29 to play in their game at the Clinton Arena.
The score helped Clinton earn a 4-2 win over the rivals to improve to 10 wins, 6 losses and 2 ties. It also evened their season series after New Hartford shocked the Warriors and scored four straight goals in a 4-3 win earlier in the season.
But before there was showdown in the ice, both teams joined in raising money, donations and awareness for the Feed Our Vets and The Country Pantry. Players on both teams had special game-day jerseys with camouflage patterns.
The Honor Guard of Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post members George Reschetnikow and Bill White, with Schilling-Burns-Young VFW Post members Chet Stuttler and Jeremiah Martinez led the pre-game ceremony on the ice.
