Brookfield senior Sam Jaeger started her team’s scoring in the fourth quarter with a perfectly executed turnaround jumper. Jaeger’s basket helped the Beavers beat Fabius-Pompey at SUNY Morrisville as part of a day-long event featuring Central Counties League girls basketball teams vs. each other, with Brookfield picking up the Falcons as a non-league team. The day raised money for Golisano Children’s Hospital. Complimented after on her pretty shot, Jaeger gave credit elsewhere. “(Teammate) Jaelyn (Vleer-Elliott) taught me that move in practice,’’ Jaeger said. That sort of teamwork to help each other get better is a large part of why Brookfield enters this week undefeated after 11 games and ranked No. 4 in state in Class D. The Beavers are the only girls team in Section Three’s Class D without a loss. From the start of their game, the final one of the day, Brookfield controlled the action on the way to a 32-14 halftime lead. Freshman point guard Lily Vleer-Elliott ran off five quick points, with a 3-pointer followed by a driving jumper over a much taller Falcon defender.
