Waterville girls varsity basketball scored the game’s first 25 points and held Sauquoit Valley to just four baskets in a commanding league win last week.
All 11 players scored for Waterville, which improved to 3-1 after losing to West Canada Valley in the game before. Waterville next heads to the VVS Tournament this week.
Waterville took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter, with Natalee Collins scoring four points, including off an assist from Megan Wittenbeck. Janelle Cleary hit WCS’s only 3-pointer in the first period.
Amber Coe led off the second quarter with a turnaround jumper and then had a putback that began with a steal from Sydney Hajdasz. By the time Waterville built a 25-0 lead with 3:43 left in the first half, nine Indians had scored and all 11 had seen court time.
Coe added another basket on a putback; she led the team with 12 rebounds in the game. After Sauquoit got on the board with three and a half minutes left in the half on back-to-back buckets, including a 3-pointer, Abigail Schachtler closed out the first half with two free throws for a 29-5 halftime WCS lead.
