On the run downcourt, Jenna Bugbee looked over her shoulder and made the catch without breaking stride.
The senior caught the assist pass from Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott, one of seven the junior handed out in Brookfield’s 54-18 league win over DeRuyter. Bugbee hit the layup on the run, part of a 12-point night she had to go alone with 4 steals.
Brookfield’s win improved the Beavers to 4-0 in a game that saw every player get significant court time starting in the middle of the second quarter.
Vleer-Elliott and senior Madilyne Kupris both had double-doubles. Vleer-Elliott brought down 12 rebounds and scored 11 points, inching closer to the 1,000-point milestone. The versatile player’s stat line also included 5 steals and 3 blocks.
Kupris scored a game-high 18 and came close to a triple-double with 10 rebounds and 7 steals.
