Voters in next month’s general election will have some choices when filling out their ballots.
New to everyone this year is the ability to go to the polls before Election Day Tuesday, Nov. 5. In Oneida County, three sites are set for everyone in the county to use between Oct. 26 and Nov. 3: the Rome YMCA, New Hartford Town Hall and the county’s Board of Elections office on the third floor of Union Station.
The three sites will have hours for early voting each of those nine days. To see specific times at which sites, visit the Oneida County Board of Elections page at www.ocgovboe.net.
In Madison County, voters can also vote early from Oct. 26 through Nov. 3 at the county’s one site at the Board of Elections office in Wampsville. Go to www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/board of elections to see times available.
On Election Day polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in both counties, and registered voters can also fill out absentee ballots if they are unable to vote in person Nov. 5 by meeting the deadline to mail the ballot.
On Oneida County ballots, the headline race is for county executive, between Democratic challenger Michael Hennessy and County Executive Republican Anthony Picente.
Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara of Deansboro is running unopposed.
Voters in southern Oneida County can choose between incumbent Oneida County Legislator Colin Idzi of Oriskany Falls, a Republican, or Democratic challenger Glen Carroll of Waterville.
