Bus Supervisor Hired At WCS


Cynthia Snow takes over duties this week as the new transportation supervisor for the Waterville Central School District.

Snow, who comes to WCS after spending 15 years driving school bus for the Sauquoit Valley district, was approved for the position at last week’s Waterville Board of Education meeting. She finished in the top three of the recent Civil Service test for the position and was the choice of the three candidates after being interviewed by a committee.

Waterville had to fill the vacancy created when Craig Manderville resigned from the position in July. Snow began Sept. 1 with Waterville.

Business administrator Tracy Leone said the committee liked Snow’s focus on communication and listening. “She was the best fit for WCS,’’ Leone said.

None of the three candidates had experience being a supervisor. Superintendent Chuck Chafee and Leone said the district has worked out an agreement with Snow that the district will pay for her training if she commits to the district for three years. If she leaves before then she will reimburse the district.

“I don’t see a problem with that as she’s excited to be here,’’ Chafee said.
