Tax Cap Limits WCS In 2019-20 Budget Work

Under the formula set by the state to determine the tax increase for next year, Waterville Central School District can raise $94,000 more.

That 1.77 percent increase does not even reach the 2 percent that Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the tax cap when establishing it in 2011 to limit the growth of property taxes in one of the highest taxed states in the country. “We do so much planning and preparing,’’ WCS Business administrator Tracy Leone told the WCS Board of Education last week. “We can’t even hit the 2 percent. It’s frustrating.’’
