The Oriskany Falls Fire Department hosted a birthday party for Joey Abt of Syracuse. The 14-year-old, who has Down Syndrome, began visiting fire departments in Onondaga and nearby counties a few years ago. This year he set a goal to visit ones in Oneida County. Along with Oriskany Falls, members of the Deansboro, Madison, North Brookfield and Morrisville departments and Southern Madison County Ambulance attended. They also collected donations for the Alzheimer’s Association, shared a cake donated by Wal-mart and signed a giant card for Joey. He received patches and shirts from the departments, a tour of a truck by Ben Petrie and helped Gareth Williams run the hose on a drill.
