WCS Board Chooses 2018-19 Officers

From the cell phone held up to the ear of Waterville Board of Education member Susy Quayle, the other five members heard a distinctive ‘What?” come out of the device.

Quayle had called board member Russell Stewart, who was not at last week’s reorganizational meeting of the Board. She had just nominated him to be president for the 2018-19 term and wanted to see if he would accept.

Stewart did and was approved 6-0 to head the board once again. Steve Stanton, voted in as vice president 6-0, ran the almost two-hour meeting.

The reorganization meeting marks the start of the new year for the district, beginning with new member Linda Hughes and returning members Mark Mowrey and Roberta Williams taking their oaths of office administered by Board clerk Kim Fancett. Superintendent Chuck Chafee and Business administrator Tracy Leone were also sworn in.
