BCS Grads Complete The Family Tradition


Next week Brookfield Central School co-valedictorian Emma Smith leaves to turn over the next decade of her life to the U.S. Navy as a member of the U.S. Naval Academy’s freshman class in Annapolis, Md.

Cousin Ryan Ferris, who ranks in the Top 5 of BCS’s Class of 2018, will head to Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall to major in business finance. He chose RIT, where older brother Tyler graduated, over American University in Washington, D.C.

“He thought it would be too close to me,’’ Emma joked.

While Ryan might have been a bit slow to deny that, he and Emma both agreed that despite some personality differences - Emma, they and parents Todd and Krista Smith say, is competitive, while Ryan is happy to dig through data to find answers - they made a pretty good team while at Brookfield.
