Winfield Reviews Solar Farm Plan

The Town of Winfield Board met last Wednesday to discuss new business.


A resident met with the Board to discuss rezoning their property to build a second residence.


Codes Officer Mike Connors said the initial plans would need a variance as the proposed driveway doesn't meet the required driveway frontage.


The Board held a discussion about the requirements for subdividing a property and advised the resident to contact the Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance.


Herkimer County Legislator Ray Donley met with the Board to discuss the Pro-Housing Community Program from New York state.


"There are a lot of unanswered questions about being designated a Pro- Housing Community," Donley said.


"They're dangling the carrot of grant eligibility, but there's no certain path towards becoming grant eligible," he said.


Donley said a circulating picture of a local property already converted into housing was a mock-up, and no actual construction is underway.


The Board held a discussion about the Pro- Housing designation process.


The new owners of Scenic View Campground met with the Board to discuss waiving the 30-day hold for a liquor license so the Bar and Grill could continue operations as soon as possible following NYS approval.


The Board approved a resolution to waive the 30-day municipal hold of the filing of the liquor license application.


A representative of the Mount Markham Optimist Club met with the Board to discuss approval to construct a 32' by 10' barbecue pit cover.


The cost of the materials and construction is estimated to be about $5,000.


The Board approved a resolution approving the construction of the pavilion with a promissory action to provide funding as available in the next fiscal year.
