Winfield Hears Solar Plan

The Town of Winfield Board met with Delaware River Solar and P.W. Grosser Consulting Engineer and Hydrogeolist, P.C. for a Solar discussion.
Their proposed project is a New York state Community Program for discounts on Solar and Energy Bills and includes a 3.6 megawatt AC project with sun-tracker panels covering about 17 acres at a location off South Street.
PWGC met with the Board to answer questions and ask the Board to begin the initial steps of the project.
These include the Town declaring itself lead agency and approving a variance for the area of the project.
The proposed project will have a minimal impact on traffic while also supplying infrastructure upgrades.
Boardmember Bob Royce asked what visual impact the project would have on nearby residences.
Delaware Solar responded there would be barriers 6 to 8 feet high around the project and the panels themselves would be 10 to 12 feet high.
A species of tree would be used as a barrier in a staggered single-row.
The project is expected to produce between 3.5 kilowatt-hours and 4.5 kilowatt-hours.
It is the only project up for proposal in the local area.
Delaware Solar currently has around 300 megawatts of Solar facilities in New York.
