Waterville Central School District increased the non-resident tuition rate for all students who do not already attend WCS.
At their meeting last week, WCS Board of Education members agreed that the tuition rates would stay the same for the 21 students who live outside the district and attended this year. That rate is $566 for Junior-Senior High students and $283 for elementary students; it is adjusted annually to increase the same rate as the tax levy increase.
WCS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring said a survey of neighboring districts showed a disparity in how non-district students pay.
Brookfield and Mount Markham take out-of-district students at no cost, while Madison charges $550 a semester. Westmoreland charges the allowed state rate of $3,971 for elementary and $7,000 for Junior-Senior High, with a Special Education rate of $9,458 and $12,455, respectively.
