The Town of Richfield will apply for a New York Forward grant for downtown improvements.
At their August meeting the Board agreed to submit an application due Sept. 25. New York Forward is a new state grant program that will provide up to $4.5 million towards local improvements.
NY Forward is an expansion of the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant which awards $10 to a community in each of the state’s 10 regions for capital improvements. Each region - Richfield is in the Mohawk Valley region - could award one or two winners for the NY Forward program.
Supervisor Dan Sullivan suggested hiring a grant writer for the application and the Board agreed.
The meeting opened with a moment of silence for former Board member Bill Seamon, who passed away the week before.
Assemblyman Brian Miller attended the meeting.
