SVCS Names Four Finalist Candidates

The Sauquoit Valley Central School District Board of Education is conducting its search for a superintendent of schools to replace Ronald Wheelock, who will retire at the end of the 2022-23 school year.


The Board announced four candidates for the position.


The candidates will be interviewed by the Sauquoit Valley Central School District Board of Education in the coming weeks. Following the interviews, the pool will be narrowed to finalists who will be introduced for community input and to engage with school district staff, students and families.


The Board of Education will make the final decision.


Raymond Kilmer serves as Executive Principal for the Fayetteville-Manlius CSD, a position he has had since 2016. He was previously employed as Principal, Assistant Principal and Social Studies Teacher in the Fayetteville-Manlius CSD.


Kilmer earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science/International Relations and his Master of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education from Syracuse University, and his Doctorate of Education in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College.


Jessica Poyer serves as Director of Teaching, Learning and Personnel for the Norwich CSD, a position she has had since 2021. She was previously employed as Administrator of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Oneida CSD; Grant Coordinator and Teacher for the Hamilton CSD; and Teacher for the Greece CSD.


Poyer earned her Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, her Master of Science in Inclusive Childhood from Nazareth College, her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and is pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from University of the Cumberlands.


Patrick Ruddy serves as Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Cazenovia CSD, a position he has had since 2018. He was previously employed as Acting Principal, Assistant Principal and CSE Chairperson for the Cazenovia CSD; and Assistant Principal, Teacher Independent Evaluator, Administrative Intern and Special Education Teacher for the Syracuse CSD.


Ruddy earned his Master of Science in Special Education from SUNY Oswego, and a second Master of Science in Special Education and Certificate of Advance Study in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University.


David Stayton serves as Principal for the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES Career and Technical Education Center, a position he has had since 2011. He was previously employed as CTEC Assistant Principal, Summer School Principal, Teacher on Special Assignment and English Teacher for the OHM BOCES; Afterschool Program Administrator for the Madison-Oneida BOCES; and English Teacher for the Halifax CSD.
