Programs Reduce Energy Bills

The Village of West Winfield participated in a grant program through New York State Energy Research and Development.


NYSERDA awarded the Village $50,000 in 2019 for LED lighting in Village buildings, LED streetlight upgrades, insulation, heating systems, and inefficient door replacements.


Since then, the Village has participated with Climate Smart Communities, focusing on Department of Environmental Conservation initiatives aimed at reducing activities producing greenhouse gasses.


The Village’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force reviewed NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities Program high impact actions. Two were selected to help residents decrease their energy bills.


The Community Solar Community Campaign is a program where households choose to use a Village-selected solar electric supplier.


Powermarket, the selected Community solar provider, replaces the current supplier on participants’ NYSEG bill…
