Parking A Concern With Village Green Redesign

While redoing the Village Green in Clinton will eliminate a few parking spaces on East Park Row, the Village contends that enough public parking remains.


Six people at last week’s Village Board meeting said they were upset to learn that spaces in front of the Kirkland Art Center and adjacent businesses could be gone under the plan to redesign the Village Green.


The parking spaces would be needed for a driving lane, as a third left-turn lane would be created to enter the new two-way road.


A meeting the night before the Village meeting unveiled a potential design and plans for the Village Green.


Ernest Williams said the concern along East Park Row is the need for handicapped parking and an unloading area.


Dr. Mark Tardugno with Clinton Dental said his elderly patients need to have parking close to his office.


When someone said there has not been opportunity for public input, Clinton Mayor Elizabeth Tantillo pointed out the various opportunities.
