No Parade, But Plenty Of Activities July 4

We were right, but we were also wrong.

Last week’s issue of the Times said there would be no parade this Fourth of July in Clinton. That’s true.

But what we left out is that instead of the parade and long wait till fireworks, the Town of Kirkland and Village of Clinton have revamped the Fourth of July celebration into a different event. The Clinton Chamber of Commerce is also assisting.

Called the Summer Stroll, the evening will feature music, an ice cream social and of course, fireworks.

From 7 to 9 p.m. on the Village Green, Midnight Mike and the Bent Blinds will play. Bring chairs and blankets to get comfortable and listen.

While there the Clinton Historical Society will have an ice cream social. They are looking for an old fashioned hand-crank ice cream maker to borrow for the July 4 festivities?

Email Clintonhistoricalsociety1@gmail.com or call 315-859-1392 to help out.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., fireworks will take place as usual, with prime viewing over at the Clinton Central School grounds.

Should it rain, the Monday, July 4 events will move to Friday, July 8.

The full story is in this week's edition of the newspaper.
