Marshall Water System Set For Improvements

The September meeting of the Town of Marshall Town Council opened with approval of the Aug. 19 meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Supervisor Colleen Baldwin.
The Public Hearing on the Community Development Block Grant was then opened.
Town Clerk Mary Blunt read aloud the notice of the public hearing.
This is the first of two public hearings which are provided for the public before submission of the CDBG program grant application.
This first hearing is giving information about the grant: the program requirements, eligibility, the types of grants, available funding, etc.
Also, this is the public’s opportunity to ask any questions and to register complaints about the program.
There were no comments or discussion on this matter and the hearing was closed.
Following that was the public hearing on modifications to the water system.
Given that the improvements in the water system in the township would benefit many residents in the water district, it was determined by the Town Council that improvements to the water system were in the public interest, and a Resolution was made to that effect.
Dan Yoxall, head of the Water Board, then gave his monthly report.
In August, 773,000 gallons of water were treated, with a daily average of 24,960 gallons.
The Water Department received excellent results with the water testing, Yoxall reported.
The leak by the Highway Department has been taken care of.
The main source of water is diminishing, and they may have to turn to their secondary source, he said.
