Life In Mexico

“I don’t want to be an ordinary tourist. I want to get off the beaten track and experience unspoiled Mexico, not touristy Cancun or San Miguel de Allende.”


It sounds like a good idea but for those of us who enjoy organization and convenience, off the beaten track can sometimes be annoying. For example, on our recent trip to Hidalgo we made reservations at a hotel downtown but arriving by car we had difficulty finding downtown.


Signs indicating “Centro” were scarce, our GPS appeared to be lost as well and after an eternity of driving in circles we hired a cab to lead us to our hotel.
