History Day Event For BCS Teacher

Michelle Zaia, a Social Studies teacher at Brookfield Central School, was one of 30 teachers picked this year to participate in the National History Day Summer Institute in Rhode Island.

Zaia is one of two teachers from across the United States attending from New York state. The program lasts six months, as teachers learn and research the American Revolution and Early Republic.

National History Day is working with the Rhode Island Historical Society as the state celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. As part of the program, the 30 teachers will spend a week in Rhode Island in July.

Teachers will then create lesson plans from their research and learning.

The full story is in this week's edition of the newspaper.
