Times photographer Zach Lewis spotted this symbol of freedom out of the window of his Clinton home as the eagle was perched on a low branch over the flowing water of the Oriskany Creek. He grabbed his camera with the super zoom lens. By the time he got outside the eagle had flown away. Then Zach spotted the bald eagle in a tall tree overlooking the creek. He slid down the banks of the creek - nearly falling face-first in the icy water - found a clear spot and took this photo.
