Grants Help Fire Department

The Village of West Winfield Board met Thursday evening to discuss new business.
The Board approved a resolution approving the payment of vouchers.
The Board approved a resolution approving the Treasurer's report.
Village Clerk Scott Van Duren reported the Village is working on the annual Financial Report.
The Civil Service payroll reported was provided to the Board and the Fire Expense report was provided to the Town of Winfield.
The Community Activities Fund received two donations totaling $350.
Donations totaling $400 were received in memory of Michael Grann.
The Board held a discussion about Hometown Heroes Banners and providing the option to purchase new banners to residents or purchasing new banners.
Village of West Winfield Mayor Sandy Smith thanked West Winfield Fire Department Chief Sean Murphy for the work the Fire Department did for the parade and Fourth of July celebration.
Murphy reported the Fire Department received 44 EMS calls for June with 11 fire calls.
Another 10 calls were rolled.
Murphy congratulated Doug Barton for completing the Interior Firefighting Course.
Nozzles are ordered and due soon.
About half of the DEC grant is spent so far and the Department will apply for reimbursement when the grant is spent, according to Murphy.
A grant was submitted to install a new exhaust system and electrical work at the fire house.
Smith discussed the 250th Fourth of July Celebration saying, "The 250th celebration went great until the rain. I want to apologize to anyone who went out into the rain to get away from the magician. It was not the act that was supposed to be performed."
Smith said the first Music Monday in the Park of the Summer went well.
The Village Family Fall Fest is moved back a week to Sept. 29.
